New students who paid their enrollment fees will receive an invitation to register for orientation. This invitation will be sent to the student's personal and UConn email addresses. Invitations will be sent as the enrollment fees are received, beginning in mid-April. Allow 2-3 business days after the enrollment fee has been received and processed by the University to receive the orientation invitation.

During orientation new students will complete an online task list and participate in an in-person orientation and virtual advising sessions. Once the mandatory online task list items are completed, students will be able to sign up for in-person orientation session. Orientation sessions are available on a first come, first served basis. Sessions will take place June-August and each session is limited, so it is recommended you sign up early!

Orientation is MANDATORY – If this is your first time as a degree seeking student at UConn Stamford you are required to participate in Orientation in order to register for classes.

If you have been accepted to the University of Connecticut and will be attending the university in the fall semester, the orientation program for Fall Admits is designed for you.

Orientation Structure

Students are required to participate in all components of orientation. Students who do not complete orientation will not be able to register for fall courses and/or attend the University. Here is a preview of the student orientation experience for the UConn Stamford campus:

 

Freshman Students (two-day event)

Online Task List: Items that need to be completed by student, including Welcome, Financial Aid, Student Financial Responsibility Agreement, UConn ID Card, Placement Tests, etc.

Day 1:   Time: 8:30am to 5:00pm

Modality: In person – 1 University Place, Stamford, CT

Description: Students will meet with peers and Advising Team to discuss major, areas of interest, academic policies, and general University requirements.

Day 2:   Time: TBD 1-2 business days prior to date, you will receive via your personal and UConn email accounts specific details about session time and remote access, as this portion of orientation will be online.

Modality: Online

Description: Your advising session will take place virtually and will focus on college transition and course registration. It will likely be 1-2 hours in duration.

 

Transfer Students (one-day event)

Online Task List: Items that need to be completed by student, including Welcome, Financial Aid, Student Financial Responsibility Agreement, UConn ID Card, Placement Tests, etc.

Modality: In person – 1 University Place, Stamford, CT

    Freshman, Transfer, & International Student Orientation Session Dates

    Confirming Your Advising Session

    An email confirmation will be sent after you sign up for your advising session. This email indicates you are “confirmed” for the session you selected. Emails are sent to the personal email address that the University has on file for you as well as and your UConn email account.

    Contact us at orientation.stamford@uconn.edu if you haven’t received your email confirmation within 24 hours of submitting your online Orientation reservation.

    Rescheduling Advising Session

    Orientation and advising sessions may only be changed in the case of an emergency and are based on session availability.

    Rescheduling requests made less than five business days from confirmed advising session date will be rescheduled for a late-August advising session date. Contact us at orientation.stamford@uconn.edu if you are rescheduling your session less than five business days of your scheduled session date.

    Orientation is a mandatory program for first time degree seeking students at UConn Stamford. There is no option to register for classes without participating in Orientation.
